The Karlsson Project Highlights include: (living room, den, basement bar, closet) Master Closet It's not every day you get to design a closet of this scale. To say the closet was a puzzle is an understatement! The space for the new closet was created by integrating the original master walk-in and taking over a guest room, it's ensuite and walk-in, another hallway, and a linen closet. The angles, differentiating ceiling heights, existing plumbing and HVAC locations were all key players/considerations in developing the design. Many minds came together to make this dream closet a reality. Deslaurier Custom Cabinetry brought their years of experience in the cabinetry business and truly created a custom design with beautifully integrated lighting to show off the details of the millwork and the high fashion within. VSC Limited showcased their passion for intelligent building and their attention to detail throughout the project. The collaboration between the entire team of experts and clients is what elevated the result. A design process involving trust and openness on everyone's level is what allowed creative ideas to flow and the unique, custom design to flourish! As you enter the closet, the rich charcoal cabinetry paired with a classic door profile, burnished brass hardware and alpine white engineered maple flooring, evokes masculinity and seamlessly opens up into a classic white closet with thoughtful details in every direction. The furthest site line pulls your eye towards the gown closet: beautifully illuminated glass cabinetry showing off the sparkly gowns and designer handbags. Beside the gown area, the shoe area is in itself another closet; as you enter you're surrounded by shoes on all sides. A 10' foot island runs the length of the closet providing additional accessory and clothing storage as well as a working surface. The makeup area features a custom vanity, storage tower and an oversized LED mirror which reflects the gowns behind and provides the best lighting for applying makeup. The functionality and storage needs for all elements of dressing, whether it be belts, ties, necklaces, glasses, watches, etc. were considered throughout the design process of this complex space. Den / Loft We wanted the third-floor loft to be a haven for relaxing: basically a private movie theatre. The combined Cloud Sofa and its ottomans feels more like a bed than a sofa and is perfect for curling up on. The palette was inspired by a modern take on old Hollywood deep glam. The deep, rich tones of the seagrass wallpaper paired with Deslaurier's Midnight Oak panels creates an organic, cozy cave. The final touch of an oversized gilded globe makes one feel intimately nested. Living Room / Family Room High fashion elements are sprinkled in each room of this home while still providing the comfort, relaxation and that homey feeling we all try to achieve. The living room is no exception. Mr. Brainwash adorns the wall with graphite mixed media pop art styling. The luxurious Tibetan wool and brass chairs are basically the new Lazyboys of the high fashion world :) A floor-to-ceiling thin porcelain that evokes marble provides a contemporary edge to the fireplace. The grounding element in the room is the rug: a wool and viscose blend from India. Don't fret if you don't have a green thumb because the beautiful 7.5ft fig tree is faux (available at West of Main Shoppe)! The Mancave / Basement Last but not least, the mancave/basement was designed to host an entire hockey team. With a 12 person bar, multiple TVs, a wine cellar and draft on tap, one really does not have to leave the basement for much! The sofa is pure memory foam and basically hugs you as you sit. The Roberto Cavalli tiles from Euro Tile & Stone are heated and run through the entire space making it easy for cleaning. The midnight oak cabinetry from Deslaurier Custom Cabinetry along with the black glass wall and metallic finishes make this space the perfect mix of moody and 007 sophistication. Many of the pieces were sourced from West of Main Shoppe which is now open to the public and an online Shoppe will be coming in the New year! Stay Tuned !
