> PROJECT JACKSON West of Main teamed up with the Ottawa Art Gallery, Caroline Gosselin, and John Leung, and have designed Jackson, a casual yet sophisticated full-service café that includes a grab & go counter and a dine-in restaurant. With a belief that natural elements possess a timeless beauty, Jackson’s design combines nature with modern pieces to create a chic, elegant and unique style. Understated highlights such as the gold mountains that lay beneath the bar allowed us to soften glitzy finishes and layer polished elements with natural tones derived from the earth beneath us. We designed the bar to be not only functional but a prominent focal point of Jackson and to set the stage for the mixology at play. Teak paneling serves as a striking backdrop to the marble counters and the detailed tile design. The gilded pendant lights are not only a dramatic frame, but add a feeling of intimacy to the bar’s otherwise open and expansive ceiling. We were inspired by the art that surrounds us and wanted to create a seamless transition between the gallery and the cafe/bar. Maintaining site lines to complement the existing architecture was of the utmost importance. The frameless showcase boxes that adorn the demising walls create an artistic division between the spaces while highlighting works of art in a similar fashion to that of the gallery. "We are inspired by the art that surrounds us and the earth beneath us. We strive to be at the forefront of sustainability and environmental efforts. For the earth, and your body. Fine art, and fine food. We can’t wait to meet you. Sincerely, Jackson" Click here to learn more The dining experience is about more than just the delicious food on your plate. It’s the atmosphere, ambience, and the overall social experience. West of Main strived to create a harmony between the food on your plate and the space that surrounds it.
